Emergency Crowdfunding Campaign Launched for the August 2026 Massive Floods in Nepal

ASHA, a Certified NPO (Representative Directors: Sakkya Sandip and Yoshifumi Nin), will launch an emergency crowdfunding campaign to support victims of the massive flooding that struck northern Nepal on August 26, 2026, starting at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2026.

■ Background of the Crowdfunding Campaign

On August 26, 2026, massive flooding occurred in northern Nepal (near the border with China’s Tibet Autonomous Region). Vast amounts of water and sediment surged into villages in Raswa District and elsewhere, causing extensive damage not only to homes but also to essential infrastructure such as roads, bridges, power plants, water supply systems, and telecommunications facilities. Numerous deaths and missing persons have been reported, and rescue and search operations are ongoing despite difficulties in transporting relief supplies due to severed access routes.

ASHA, which has been deeply supported by local communities and partners in Nepal since its founding in 2015, has decided to launch this emergency relief project driven by a strong desire to “support the affected areas alongside trusted partners in the face of this unprecedented disaster.”

During a disaster, the most critical—and most difficult—task is “delivering the aid that is truly needed to the affected areas without delay.” Therefore, ASHA will fully support the activities of our local partner, the “GU Memorial Foundation” (Representatives: Sabitri Shrestha and Ganesh), with whom we have worked side by side in the field for many years.

Sabitri Shrestha, Ganesh, and their team, who have an in-depth understanding of the situation on the ground, maintain close daily collaboration with local residents, municipal governments, and medical professionals, enabling them to provide precise support tailored to the rapidly changing needs of the disaster-stricken areas. ASHA will take responsibility for receiving the warm generosity of the people of Japan and ensuring it is delivered reliably to our local partners working on the front lines.

■ Details of Support and Use of Funds

The donations we receive from you will be used for the following support initiatives, tailored to local needs.

  • Procurement and distribution of emergency relief supplies: Daily necessities such as food, drinking water, hygiene supplies, clothing, and blankets

  • Provision of temporary housing and evacuation materials: Procurement and distribution of materials for constructing tents and shelters

  • Support and transportation expenses: Costs for transporting supplies to the disaster-stricken areas, as well as expenses for on-site surveys and relief activities

*As this is emergency relief, the duration and nature of the support may be subject to change depending on local needs.
