Celebrating Our 8th Anniversary Since Establishment and 6th Year as a Registered Organization (Giving December)

ASHA’s Journey, Gratitude, and the Road Ahead

"Giving December" is a nationwide campaign in Japan to raise awareness about charitable giving. The first campaign took place in December 2015.

It was launched as a collaborative initiative involving a wide range of stakeholders—NPOs, universities, corporations, government bodies, and international organizations—who came together to designate the month of December as “Giving December.”

This month serves as a time for organizations that receive donations to express gratitude to donors and to improve how they report on the impact of contributions. It also provides an opportunity for many people to reflect on the importance and role of giving, to take interest in donation culture, and to be inspired to take action.

Among the 50,105 NPOs in Japan, ASHA has aspired to become one of the 1,280 organizations officially certified as a Certified NPO (*). In January of this year, we were honored to be granted the status of a Provisionally Certified NPO Corporation, and we have since moved forward with renewed resolve and a strong sense of responsibility.

Thanks to your generous support, we celebrated the 8th anniversary of our founding and the 6th anniversary of our incorporation in October. Over the past year, we have expanded the scope of our activities—forming a partnership with Kathmandu University, broadening our target regions, launching new projects, and initiating organizational development with a mid- to long-term perspective. None of this would have been possible without your continued support.

• Road Ahead

As we aim to further expand the scope of our activities, building a stable and sustainable financial foundation has become increasingly important. To achieve this, we plan to strengthen our fundraising efforts and broaden our circle of supporters.

One meaningful way to support our mission is by becoming a Monthly Supporter. Starting from just 500 yen per month, supporters can contribute any amount of their choice. This ongoing support plays a crucial role in sustaining our activities on the ground in Nepal and enables us to continue striving toward a world where everyone has the right to live in good health.

This January, ASHA was officially designated as a Certified NPO, and we are honored to participate in Giving December for the first time. We are deeply grateful for the warm support that enables us to continue our work.
